Muhammad Zaheer Khan
Muhammad Zaheer Khan is the Programme Manager at FRC. He has worked in the corporate sector, engineering and telecom industry, before joining development sector in 2006. He is an MBA in Marketing Communication along with MSc in Poverty Reduction and Development Management from University of Birmingham, UK. Mr Zaheer has worked with Islamic Relief on a case study on 2005 Earthquake in Pakistan focusing Cash for Work, Housing and Livelihood, Air Transat/Canadian Affairs in London on Pricing and Sustainable Tourism, University of Birmingham in Pakistan on Religions and Development Research Project, Mines Advisory Group (MAG) /SPADO on Mine Risk Education Project in KPK and FATA. He is also a visiting Faculty at Development Studies Department at Iqra University Islamabad where he teaches “Development Studies: Issues and Perspectives” and “Peace and Development:FATA in Focus” modules to graduate students.
Sharafat Ali Chaudhry
Mr. Chaudhry, a development professional turned Lawyer, studied Law & Education at Graduate Level, English Literature and Language at Masters and Development Studies at MS level. Being skilled in Development Sector he has delivered for SAHE, Islamic Relief, Qatar Red Crescent and Reach Out to Asia. In fields of Research, Trainings, Community Consultation & Human Rights, he has worked as a consultant for DFID-UK, World Bank, Directorate of Staff Development Punjab and Punjab Education Sector Reforms Program. Some research work on his strength was published with the support of DFID-UK and CIDA pertaining to ‘NGOs in Education in Punjab’ and ‘Under Utilization of Public Health Facilities’ respectively. He also wrote project proposals, funded by different Donors. His socio-legal research inclination articulates prerequisite for administration of justice in different levels. Mr. Chaudhry has been Visiting Faculty member at Department of IR at International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) and Police Academy, Islamabad for training in Communication Skills and Human Rights. He has recently joined FRC in the capacity of Editor/Research Coordinator.
Zakia Rubab Mohsin
Assistant Manager Programme
Ms Mohsin, an anthropologist, has earned her M.Sc. in Anthropology from Qauid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. Ms Mohsin has worked with International Relief and Development (IRD)-USAID in Monitoring and Evaluation department in ‘Early recovery emergency projects for small farmers, Cash for Work, Agriculture welfare, GIKs and Livelihood projects in South Punjab. She has coordinated the projects for Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) and also organized seminars and other events. She has also managed projects, and produced promotion material for Children First (CF). Ms Mohsin worked as the Admin Manager and Academic Coordinator at Wright Research School. She has also done certification in arts from NCA and PAF Finishing School.The research projects Ms Mohsin completed, includes ‘Rehabilitating Women: A case study of Shelter Home’ in 2010, ‘Social and Economic Challenges to the Eunuchs: An Ethnographic study’ in 2009, and ‘Measuring Empowerment in working & Non-working women’, in 2008. Ms Mohsin joined FRC as Asst. Manager Programme and is contributing in research and project controlling systems.
Mehran Ali Khan
Senior Research Analyst
Mehran an emerging scholar belongs to South Waziristan Agency. He is M. Phil in Politics and International Relations from Islamic University. He is writing his thesis about “Lashkar in FATA, implication for the future peace”. He is head of Cultural Exploration Program (CEP) in FATA Research Centre, where he has presented the world, the vibrant color of FATA Culture. He believes that revival of FATA culture is only solution to the present crisis. He has represented FATA on many international and national forums.
Taimur Ali Khan
Taimur Ali Khan is an IT Engineer at FATA Research Center. He graduated from University of Engineering & Technology Peshawar, and in final phase of completing his MS with specialization in Computer Systems Engineering. He is working FRC since beginning of the year 2012. He is heading the IT department while conducting IT trainings for FRC employees and internees’ along with providing web based solutions, networking and trouble shooting. He is Expert in 8051 microcontrollers and ASP.net Programming. Before Joining FRC he has worked with PTCL Peshawar and Pakistan Loco motive factory Risal Pur in fields EWSD & Fiber optics and Electronic departments respectively.
Mr. Ali Afzal Afzaal is FRC field researcher for Kurram Agency. Mr Afzaal is a seasoned journalist and has worked as a reporter and editor for a number of newspapers and magazines. He has also worked with a number of local and international radio and TV channels including, but not limited to, BBC Pashtu radio service, NHK broadcasting service, Al-Jazeera and GEO TV. He has travelled extensively in FATA and has interviewed some of the most high profile personalities in that area. Of special note are his exclusive interviews with Jalal-ud-din Haqqani (Chief of the Haqqani Network), Gulbadin Hikmatyar (Chief of Hizb-e-Islami Afghanistan), Late Naik Mohammad (founder of the Taliban movement in South Waziristan). Mr. Afzaal is a resident of Parachinar, Kurram Agency. He has a Masters in Mass Communications from Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad.
Anwarullah khan belongs to Bajaur Agency. He started his Career with Daily the Nation as a District Correspondent in 2000. For the last ten years Khan is regularly covering events and developments taking place in FATA. He has worked with many international news organizations such as Japan based television network FUJI, NHK, Dawn, SAMA TV and Reuters. During his journalistic career he has covered almost all the beats in Bajaur Agency.In Jan 2010, Mr. Khan was awarded best reporter of tribal areas by the Federal Information Ministry in Islamabad. He is the vice President of the Tribal Union of Journalists in FATA.
Anwarullah khan is currently working as field researcher for Bajaur Agency and contributing news stories and research reports to FRC.
